My good friend “M” said to me today “You can’t say NEVER…that’s an invite to the devil”. She is right in the fact that Satan loves a challenge and he likes to gloat when he distracts his target. Or causes his target to compromise on their stance I suggested to her that perhaps we should say “always” as an invitation to God… and put the ball in the right court.
Just my thoughts, musings, but….
You’ve got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between
You’ve got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
Isn’t it true that for the most part, we moan and complain about the negative things that are “happening” to us instead of the positive things that surround us. We want to blame our failure on a satanic attack, ask for a hedge of protection from him, pray against him, etc, etc, etc. Shouldn’t we just be basking in the the promises of God? Shouldn’t we know that as His children we are protected, we are favored and we are safe? Shouldn’t we just trust that we are in good hands? Better yet… shouldn’t we FIRMLY sit on one side or the other? Not be waffling between fear and safety?
Come on… pick a side – don’t groan about how “under attack” you are from Satan. Don’t even cloak it in “Well I must be living for Jesus because I made Satan so mad he is coming after me”. Really? And I saw you smile – we all have said it! I love the line in the song above, made famous by the Andrew’s Sisters and Bing Crosby in the mid ‘40’s , that says that “pandemonium (is) liable to walk upon the scene”. Ain’t that the truth? Pandemonium … we find ourselves in the midst of that when we do NOT eliminate the negative (Satan). We have the propensity to create a tangled web of our “negative” or “pandemonium” and then whine that we just couldn’t help it, and please God rescue me. We give more “air time” to Satan than he deserves. Don’t empower the negative. Don’t make it more important than the positive. In other words – don’t invite him into your life, your situation. Stand firmly on the positive side – holding tightly to the hand of God. Even when it becomes sweaty, and you want to let go – just for a minute to wipe your hand – keep squeezing as tightly as you can. Not because He will let go – but because you are tempted to let go. (This is a time that “let it go, let it go” does not work!)
Let’s do our best to not empower the evil one – lets not give him credit for anything. Remember, like some people, negative recognition is better than no recognition. Let’s shift the power scale. Even when we are nervous, remember in Gods hands we are safe. We are chosen. We can accentuate the positive.
Don’t mess with Mr. In Between…
